The Money Museum, installed in the old church of São Julião, entirely restored as part of the rehabilitation project of the Banco de Portugal headquarters, offers visitors the opportunity to discover rare copies of banknotes and coins from around the world, in an innovative and interactive.

Description

Touching a gold bar, taking a virtual trip to the 12th century, seeing the first coin in history, minted about 2 700 years ago, getting to know the evolution of Portuguese coins and banknotes or virtually minting a coin with the visitor's face, are some of the attractions of this museum space.

The visitor is also invited to go down to the crypt of the old church and discover the only known section of the D. Dinis Wall (National Monument).
