The National Palace of Sintra, also known as Palácio da Vila, was one of the palaces used by the Portuguese Royal Family practically until the end of the Monarchy, in 1910.

Description
With an urban implantation, its construction started in the 15th century, with a trace of an unknown author.
It features characteristics of medieval, Gothic, Manueline, Renaissance and romantic architecture. It is considered an example of organic architecture, of a set of bodies apparently separate, but which are part of a whole articulated among themselves, through patios, stairs, corridors and galleries. It has the largest set of Mudejar tiles in the country.
It is dominated by two large twin chimneys that crown the kitchen and constitute the "ex-libris" of Sintra.

Opt for combined tickets (available from our physical ticket offices) to get a lower price when visiting various locations.
On Sundays, throughout the day, residents of the Municipality of Sintra are exempt from paying entrance fees to parks and monuments under the management of Parques de Sintra. In order to take advantage of this right, official documents that prove the residency must be presented, for example, Citizen Card, Identity Card, Driving License, Taxpayer Card or Voter Card. In the case of presenting an invoice for electricity, water, gas, among others, this must be accompanied by an identification document to verify the name of the invoice holder.
