A lush garden, hidden in an old quarry, right in the center of Lisbon! Its geographical situation - embedded in the slope of Parque Eduardo VII and facing south -, associated with the mild climate of Lisbon, allows very favorable conditions for the development of plants.
Parque Eduardo VII
Lisboa
In three different environments - cold greenhouse, hot greenhouse and sweet greenhouse -, we are invited to meet more than 300 species from different continents.
Of note are the various camellia cultivars, including some raised in national nurseries. We can also find Ceratozamia mexicana whose population, worldwide, is decreasing and Echinocactus grusonii, considered in danger of extinction. We also find several azalea cultivars in which Rhododendron mucronatum x R. indicum x R.simsii stands out, which we are unaware of exists in another green space.
On the paths that intertwine the space, we are accompanied by the sound of the water lines and waterfalls that end in lakes.
As if sown, we found several elements of statuary, namely "Vento Garroa" by Domingos Soares Branco, "Nude woman" by Anjos Teixeira (Son) and "Girl putting on socks" by Leopoldo de Almeida.
The Interpretative Center, opened in 2016, hosts exhibitions and activities alluding to botany and the city's green structure.
There is a notebook / script in Portuguese, which in a playful and autonomous way, mediates the visit to Estufa Fria de Lisboa.
A bilingual presentation leaflet (Portuguese and English) is also available.
